Focus on Professional Services
Rod Peters, OGCbuying.solutions' former Director of Business Development, has recently rejoined the organisation as Director of Professional Services. Here he looks forward to the challenges ahead and, in particular, his desire to enhance working relationships with suppliers for mutual benefit.
"Having gone through major procurement activity and re-branding over the past year we are now looking for a sustained period of growth in all our service categories.
"We intend to do this by working closely with all our suppliers to explore sales opportunities and enhance service provision.
"We are looking to make further improvements to our operational procurement organisation, processes and activity through the introduction and adoption of Category Management methodology.
"This will greatly enhance our capacity and capability to deliver increased efficiency savings and secure our reputation as the leading procurement organisation within the UK public sector.
"This will see Professional Services operating more actively in the market and our dealings and relationship with suppliers will be more informed and sophisticated.
"I will be constantly looking for new opportunities to widen the scope of services to the public sector. I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead and, working closely alongside all suppliers, I am confident that we can meet – and exceed – our targets."
Professional Services is a key part of Buying Solutions' newly restructured Consultancy Services grouping and includes:
- ICT Consultancy
- Organisational Consultancy
- Business Functions
- Finance & Audit
- Legal Services
Rod returns to Buying Solutions after spending three years as Supply Chain Director for FCO Services within the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
He was responsible for the Supply Chain Directorate within FCO Services supporting 235 UK Embassies and Missions around the world.
Employing 180 people, with a running cost budget of £18m, the role involved managing a full procurement and extensive logistical operation including the Diplomatic Bag and Queens Messenger service.
