New Chief Executive Alison Littley welcomed suppliers and reaffirmed Buying Solutions' commitment to forging even stronger links with the supplier community, with improving communications identified as a key priority.

Alison also stressed the importance of developing mutually supportive and beneficial relationships involving customers, suppliers and Buying Solutions.

Picking up on this theme, Director of Customer Relations Stephen Heard provided an overview of 2006/7 Marketing Strategy, based on three main pillars:

  • Great Deals – marketing activity based around our best deals
  • Our Service Promise – the commitments we make to customers
  • Suppliers programme – close collaboration with suppliers' sales forces to increase marketing activity and effectiveness

Marketing Director Janet Driver explained how the findings of Buying Solutions' Customer Value Research programme are informing our strategy and plans.

Meanwhile Account Management Director Joan Murray provided advice and guidance on some specific issues raised by customers, including further competitions, catalogue content, commission and special terms.

Copies of all the presentations, including the syndicate sessions, can be found at www.ogcbuyingsolutions.gov.uk/information/events/presentations.asp

"Overall I thought that it was a very successful event but as usual we are particularly interested in what suppliers themselves thought both in terms of what they heard and the format of the event itself," said Supplier Management Director Kevin Cahill.

"I would welcome any feedback on these issues so that we can ensure that, year by year, we deliver an event that provides real value for all concerned."
