Our new business model
The Treasury has given the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) sharper focus and teeth. It has been provided with stronger powers to set out the high standards of performance required, to monitor departments' achievements against them and to demand departmental collaboration where that enhances value for money.
Buying Solutions will be closely aligned with OGC as we roll out a new business model designed to deliver collaborative procurement through the principles of category management.
In order to offer procurement services to meet customers' needs, we will demonstrate that, through enhanced skill and expertise levels, we are the best people for the job in particular categories of goods and services.
But we will also develop, implement and sustain best practice in all our procurement activities.
Our new offer will provide a wide range of modular solutions from simple framework agreements right through to fully outsourced services, enabling customers to select the most appropriate arrangements for their needs and their organisation. The sustainability of our offerings will be a prominent feature.
We are also re-engineering our successful suite of e-tools to ensure they appeal to a broader public sector base and then fully integrate them into the category management model.
Underpinning all of this is the absolute need to develop ever closer and more productive relationships with customers and suppliers in the months and years to come.
